Winter Inspiration Part I

The Thanksgiving Holiday has me dreaming of Winter weddings. Love this picture from Martha Stewart and the prospect of this brides unique bouquet. More winter inspiration to come!

Wedding by the Numbers

I have a science degree, so numbers and statistics as they relate to the wedding industry have always been important and relevant to me. So, here are some numbers I found in a recent issue of Elegant Bride Magazine that you may find interesting and useful:

4-6 {months} prior to a destination wedding to send Save-the-Dates
8: Minimum place settings to register for
3-4 {stores} to visit before purchasing your wedding gown
2 {minutes} for the ideal toast
50 guests per usher at the ceremony
10 guests can be seated at a 60 inch round table
30-40 guests per waiter at your reception
2.5-3 {square feet} per guest for the appropriate size dance floor
3 {swimsuits} to pack for a beach honeymoon
50 guests per bathroom at your wedding venue
60 to 85 optimal degrees for an outdoor wedding {I think 85 might be pushing it here in Atlanta!}
1.5 {feet} in a chapel length train

Cheers!

Having a home wedding or a wedding at venue that allows you to bring in your own alcohol? We found a great resource for wines at reasonable prices. Cameron Hughes Wine picks up excess inventory from vintners, then blends, bottles and labels it. CH Wines offers special discounts for weddings and will ship the wines directly to your home or your venue. They will also buy back wines that are not served and their Sommelier will even help you pair wines to your menu at no additional charge! Cheers!

Fall Tablescape

As we ease into Fall here in the South, my head is filled with wonderful thoughts of the Holidays. I love this tablescape for Thanksgiving dinner, or a wonderful Fall wedding.

And what wedding or fabulous dinner party would be complete without lots of great dessert options? Love these from Amy Atlas {check out her Thanksgiving Dessert Table}!

Martha for pingg

A great new {eco-chic} concept from Martha Stewart and pingg. Lovely, stylish, customized online invitations and e-cards for wedding showers and engagement parties. Manage your event online- send invitations by e-mail to anyone in your address book and post to your social networks! See more here.

Meghan & Kevin

Meghan and Kevin were married in a gorgeous, traditional Southern wedding on June 6th at All Saints Episcopal Church. If I had to say there was a theme to their wedding, it was flowers. There were LOTS of beautiful, lush flowers everywhere, so we are going to be focusing on the flowers in this post.

I love that Meghan chose a pretty, neutral color palette- whites, creams, champagne and a hint of light pink. The bridesmaids dresses were adorable. I heart the bows on the shoulders.

And don't the groomsmen look so dapper?

What a cool picture of a peek of the ceremony through the sanctuary doors.

The reception took place at Capital City Club Brookhaven. The newlyweds took a few photos alone before joining their guests.

The flowers at the reception were absolutely stunning!

And we can't forget about the cakes! Meghan's textural cake is so pretty.

Kevin's cake might be one of the best Groom's cakes I have seen! It encompassed all of his favorite things- the University of Georgia Bulldogs, his Westminster high school colors {the dog's scarf} and golf. So fun!

{Can you believe this is a cake!?}

Steal this idea! Meghan and Kevin had their guests throw lavender along with rose petals for their grand exit. It smells so good and looks kind of like snow falling!

Congratulations Meghan and Kevin! It was a pleasure to work with you-- I hope that you are all settled in North Carolina and that Meghan's residency is going well! Thank you Christine Gallagher for these pretty pics.

Fabulous Frock Friday

This week's edition of Fabulous Frock Friday comes straight from the Fall 2010 Bridal Fashion Week runway. This photo was taken by my pal Annie Lee at the Monique show {see the whole collection here}. I saw this photo and thought it was like a piece of art- the fact that it is in black + white, the graininess of the photo and the gorgeous subjects- it feels like a dream to me...

Southern Weddings Magazine

Congrats to the ladies of Southern Weddings Magazine on their second issue hitting newsstands today! We had so much fun being a part of the cover shoot at Serenbe, which all of you know is one of my favorite places. Get your copy of this gorgeous magazine and see more details {and even my pic!} on pages 21-31.

Kessa & Randy

Kessa and Randy were married in September at the Four Seasons Hotel in Midtown. They had a lovely, small wedding.

I love the juxtaposition of the next 2 shots. Everyone takes pics of the brides shoes, but I think the groom's shoes are equally as telling....

Kessa and Randy saw each other before the ceremony in an intimate moment on the grand staircase in the entrance of the hotel. The couple and the bridal party then made their way to Atlantic Station on the Georgia Tech trolley to take additional photos.

The ceremony was very sweet and touching.

And the reception that followed was beautiful and intimate. The couple had less than 50 guests, so everyone dined around one large estate table adorned with a runner of hot pink flowers that popped against the black + white base palette.

Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for cupcakes in fun flavors (like peach, of course!) and S'mores were passed late night.

We moved to the 5th floor terrace for a sparkler exit with gorgeous city views.

Congratulations, Kessa and Randy! Thank you to the gals of Simply Bloom Photography for these gorgeous images. I'll leave you with this fun ring shot:
